Open Grid Systems is seeking an ambitious, enthusiastic candidate to pursue a career in software engineering to support our industry-leading software solutions. You will join a highly experienced team of software and electrical engineers based in the city centre of Glasgow, who will support, train and mentor you.

This is a rare opportunity to start a career in software engineering within a small company, focussed on cutting-edge technologies and an enthusiastic team that will help and guide you.

Depending on experience your typical day may include

  • Testing new software features
  • Managing cloud services or solving basic IT problems
  • Writing software modules
  • Fixing software bugs
  • Updating technical documentation
  • Assisting in data analysis tasks

And with experience

  • Designing and implementing complex, full stack software
  • Designing and implementing algorithms
  • Interacting with potential and current clients

You must have

  • A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer and Electronic Systems or equivalent
  • A passion for technology and problem solving
  • The ambition to learn and progress
  • The discipline and attention to detail to deliver quality work

Desirable:

  • Experience in writing software in the Java programming language
  • Experience with the React framework and web technologies
  • Knowledge of electrical engineering and power systems

Place of work

Normal place of work would be Open Grid Systems’ main office on Bothwell Street in Glasgow city centre. There is support for flexible, hybrid working after the successful completion of a 3 month probation period
