Environmental Policy
Issue No.: 01
Date: 5th September 2018
Open Grid Systems accepts its responsibilities in environmental matters and recognises that good environmental management must be an integral and fundamental part of our business. Although we believe we have a minimal impact on the environment, Open Grid Systems aims to improve its environmental performance by:
- Providing the resources required to implement, control and improve our environmental management system
- Complying with the requirements of all relevant environmental legislation
- Assessing the environmental effects of our business operations
- Raising awareness, encouraging participation and training employees
- Expecting similar standards from our suppliers and contractors
- Actively promoting recycling internally to our staff as part of their induction, and by the provision of recycling bins/bags within our business and an understanding of what we can or cannot recycle
- Conserving resources through increased energy efficiency by remembering to switch off lights, office equipment and machinery when not in use
- Better water management and being more aware of our water usage
- Managing waste and avoiding the use of hazardous substances
- Implementing the use of recycled materials where appropriate
- Preventing and reducing pollution by implementing efficient control procedures to monitor and manage materials and processes that impact on the environment
- Making our environmental policy available to interested parties
- Continually seeking to improve our environmental performance
- Monitoring progress and annually reviewing our performance
- Considering the appointment of an environmental representative/administrator
We will communicate this policy through our company inductions and display it on office notice boards. We will also make our policy available to interested parties on request.
Delivering our operational plans within this policy will enable Open Grid Systems to develop sustainable practices and deliver a meaningful contribution to the quality of our environment.
