 8 Opening Historical Versions

As we have been working with the local repository all changes made since section 4.5 have been saved as commits to the database. We can export from the repository to files both for the current and historical versions.

8.1 Export Current Version45

  1. Return to the Cimphony perspective and right-click on the IEEE 14 Bus resource in the Resources View and select Export Resource.
  2. This will produce an export dialog requesting the location the data is to be exported to. Select the Open Grid Systems project and its network folder.
  3. Enter a file name, in this case ieee14-export.xml.
  4. The resource type will default to CIM RDF XML (IEC 61970-552) and afile extension of xml. Leave these default values in place.
  5. Click Finish to begin exporting the data.
  6. The exported CIM XML file can then be loaded by double-clicking onit within the workspace and it will open in a new Cimphony Browser window.

8.2 Export a Historical Version

  1. The exporting of a historical version follows the same procedure as 8.1 using the Export Historical Version option in place of Export Resource
  2. An additional dialog shows the list of versions with the timestamp, commit comment and list of objects affected compared with the previous version. Select the initial commit.
  3. Follow steps 2-6 from the previous section replacing the file name with ieee14-initial.xml.

8.3 Open Historical Version

  1. To open a read-only historical version in the browser right-click on the IEEE 14 Bus resource in the Resources View and select Open Historical Version.
  2. An additional dialog shows the list of versions with the timestamp, commit comment and list of objects affected compared with the previous version. Select the initial commit.
  3. This will open a read-only version of the data in a new Cimphony Browser.
